Putting my best face forward with Massage Envy

Hello beautiful readers!

If you have followed me for some time, you know I struggle with acne and that facials are the only way I have really seemed to get a clear complexion! I’ve tried food elimination, different diets, medications, prescription topicals, and every type of skincare regimen you can think of. Well-last week, I entered a new decade…you guessed it! 30 welcomed me with sunshine and adult acne, but also with a newfound love for my body! Taking care of it is my number one priority and that includes my skin. I am very diligent about my skincare routine. Facials from certified professionals help not only to prevent breakouts but can radically change your skin-age!

Today I’m sharing about my experience with Massage Envy- who helped me get ready for my 30th Birthday trip to Turks and Caicos this month! Massage Envy in Midland got me in for an appointment where I could choose from a variety of facials. They have so much to choose from: chemical peels, microdermabrasion and more. Check them out here!

This is not a post to ask you to run right away to Massage Envy. It’s about self-care and self-love and a little education! Personally, I needed a chemical peel. I’ve been struggling with acne scaring from 8 months of consistent breakouts in Midland. Our water is extremely hard (yes we even installed a water softener!) Chemical Peels provide a multitude of benefits. For me, getting them every few months have resurfaced my skin to greatly reduce scaring!

Here are some detailed benefits from the Massage Envy PCA Chemical Peel.

Chemical Peels help improve surface texture, fine lines and overall signs of aging and the sun.

Helps reduce skin inflammations, acne marks and hyperpigmentation for a more even skin tone.

Helps to brighten and tighten your skin for a more youthful,
glowing appearance.

Friendly staff and detailed skin-history upon checkin

I loved how inviting the staff were when I arrived, and they immediately checked me in and gave me an ipad to fill out a detailed history of my skin conditions and skincare routine. Make sure you arrive 15 minutes early to fill this out. I really appreciate this attention to detail because as you know, your personal skincare routine is not the same as your bestie-even with the same skin conditions.

A lot of facials can leave you feeling like you need to immediately go home and hibernate away for a week. Some can leave you peeling for a week, not with this one! I loved that I could put makeup on immediately or the next day. (For best results, try to let your face breathe for the day! I always avoid makeup until the next day if I can)

Post-Facial Regimine

The staff sets you up with a full sample-set of a skincare line that treats your skin post-facial. This particular routine was a follow-up for a chemical peel. With a chemical Peel of course its extremely important to follow the after-care instructions provided by your spa. Their PCA set consisted of a cleanser, serum and daytime/nighttime moisturizers. They smelled great!

Room for improvement

More attention from my esthetician

What I look for in a quality facial experience, is that my esthetician gets to know me personally because our skin makes up the largest organ of our body. It varies by genealogy, medical history, skincare routine, hormones, and environmental factors. My estethetian moved right into my facial without asking any questions. Other than this, she was very friendly and gave me a great treatment!

My results

I had minimal redness, and walked away feeling refreshed and recharged! Having my facial two weeks before my trip was perfect. I experienced a few breakouts that subsided pretty quickly. This is normal! Your skin is purging all its impurities. Overall, my skin is still glowing several weeks later and I can’t wait to head back to get a microdermabrasion treatment next!

Tips and Tricks!

  • Avoid the sun or any light therapy the week before and after your facial. Your skin will be very sensitive to these harmful rays!

  • Hydrate, hydrate, hydrate! I kept the PCA routine up for 10 days following my treatment, and moisturized multiple times per day. A chemical peel literally exfoliates layers of your skin to help turn-over new skin cells and generate new skin, but with that comes dehydration.

  • Water! On top of the moisturizer, make sure to rehydrate by drinking lots and lots of water!
